Summary

The Imperial Roman Empire (ROME) is one of the largest and most influential crews in PirateCraft. Created in May 2019, ROME have amassed large amounts of territory, spanning 3 continents. The empire has over 5 impressive cities and settlements, many powerful allies, and a large and dedicated player base. Additionally, ROME received the Crew of the Year Award for 2019.

History

Government

The governing system/leadership of ROME is organized like Imperialism. Basically, there is one Imperator (similar to an emperor), who rules the entirety of the Empire.

Under the Imperator is a council of 3 "High Capals". The High Capals are put in-charge of different branches of the empire. (The branches are Labor/Development, Economy, and Military.) Each High Capal is put in-charge of one of these branches, and they are chosen by the Imperator. High Capals report directly to the Imperator. Every High Capal has a "capal" serving under them. The capals are like secretaries for the High Capals. Capals also can be assigned to oversee different parts of their respective branches.

Governors govern over the provinces of the Empire. There are currently 3 provinces, so, likewise, there are 3 governors. The governors' jobs include: managing the cities/settlements within their province, overseeing new construction and development, taking censuses of the population, and maintaining "provinciae gloria" (the glory of the province). Governors must be long-time members, and they are elected by the citizens.

Directors are put in-charge of cities. Their jobs are similar to that of a mayor. Directors oversee development in their respective cities, and aid architects in planning out city infrastructure. They also manage the welfare of their city, act as military commanders for the troops in their city and welcome new citizens. Directors are elected by the citizens, and can only be re-elected twice.

Military

One very important aspect of the Imperial Roman Empire is the military. The military consists of main units called “legions”. Each legion has 7 members, with one of them being the leader of that legion. The leader of a legion is known as a Centurion and has authority over all ranks beneath them. After Centurion rank, a player achieve the Tribune title. The Tribune oversees all legions and reports to the Capal and High Capal directly. The Capal of the military (also known as the Legate) oversees all legions, aswell as the navy and other members working for the military. The Capal will report to the High Capal of Military (or in some cases, the Imperator).

There is another branch of the military that is separate from the others. The Praetorian Guard is a small group of the most elite PvPers in ROME. The Guard only consists of about 5 members, but this ensures the members must be the best of the best. The Praetorian Guard is responsible for defending ROME and its citizens when there is a threat that the legions can't handle on their own. The Praetorians do the heavy God PvP fighting and are the main raiders for the crew. Leading the Praetorian Guard is the Praetor, a long-time member and one of the best PvPers on the server. The Praetor is slightly greater in rank to the High Capal of Military and will lead the crew if the Imperator is absent. If a member of the Praetorian Guard stands above the rest in skill, achievements, and/or dedication, they may be chosen as the Praetorian Prefect. The Prefect (or Praefectus) is basically the second in command of the Guard and leads the Praetorians in battle when the Praetor isn't there. The Prefect is usually slightly less than (or equal in skill) to the Praetor. To become a Praetorian, one must first apply as a Praetorian Trainee. The trainee will go through serious pvp training with other guards and the Praetor. Once a trainee is about the same skill as the other guards (or better) and can hold their own against the Praetor, they will have graduated training and become a new member of the Praetorian Guard.

Wars

ROME v SPQR (Independence War)

Cause: ROME starts war to break off from SPQR

Outcome: SPQR is defeated and ROME has full independence. SPQR also sees most of their members go inactive, with the crew eventually disbanding months later. Roman Victory

ROME v ESE

Cause: Tensions between ROME and ESE remained after the SPQR v ROME war (ESE had sided with SPQR), especially over land within ROME's Capital Province

Outcome: ESE and ROME sign a treaty which gives ROME a lot of ESE's former territory. Roman Victory

ROME v DD

Cause: Melon, SJ, and other DD members had a disliking for ROME (mostly Cosmic) and started attacking Vastere almost daily

Outcome: Melon gets banned, DD disbands

ROME v Isen

Cause: Isen stealing ROME members and performing a raid on Vastere

Outcome: Isen surrenders and forced to pay reparations. Roman Victory
