The Phantom Narwhal is one of PirateCraft's most famous ships. Having participated in eight of the server's organized ship battles and winning five of them, it is the single-most successful ship in PirateCraft's history.

Originally built in late 2016 by Astrobolt while he was in Phantom, the Phantom Narwhal has served under the flags of some of the PirateCraft's strongest and most significant crews, including the aforementioned Phantom, the British Empire, the Asylum, and its current crew, the Narwhal Syndicate.

The Phantom Narwhal has seen many significant design changes over the years. Starting as a lightly-armored expeditionary submarine with light firepower, it went on to adopt a sleeker, stronger, more war-like design, becoming perhaps the strongest and most feared ship on the server, consistently outperforming even the strongest Galleon, Manowar, and Indiaman class ships.

The Phantom Narwhal is a narwhal that Astrobolt built in late 2016. So far it (and its several newer versions) has served in eight battles, the first three being victories, fourth being a defeat, fifth being a victory, sixth being a defeat, seventh being a victory, and eighth being a defeat.

The Phantom Narwhal was first built in late 2016 by Astrobolt when he was in Phantom. Since then, each addition to the series has been far more advanced than its opponents, each one proving to be one of, if not the strongest and most durable ship/sub on the server at the time. Through this consistent dominance of the seas, the series as a whole has proven itself to be the most successful ship line in PirateCraft history. It consistently packs firepower comparable to the output of large man-o-wars and indiamen, along with defensive advantages such as being a much smaller target, much faster, and made with more durable materials.

It should also be noted that v2 (see v2 for details) is considered to be unstoppable. It is a powerhouse in every respect; its armor is nearly impenetrable and it packs an enormous amount of firepower. It is the only ship to ever be barred from Maximus_Terragon's ship battles due to its immense power.

List of Narwhals

First Generation

v1 (no formal name) - Only one was built. It was the first design and fought in the Battle on the High Seas, the First Battle of Ship Wreck Isle, and the Second Battle of Ship Wreck Isle. Its current location is the TAS Sea.

v1.1 (no formal name) - Three were built. They all fought in the First Battle of Freeport; two were destroyed and the remaining one, piloted by Astrobolt, was temporarily disabled and ultimately survived the battle. The surviving one also fought in the Second Battle of Freeport, where it won, and the Fourth Battle of Freeport, where it lost. It is currently in the TAS Sea. Additionally, the ruins of one of the destroyed ones from the First Battle of Freeport has been converted into a permanent museum and is still at Freeport.

Second Generation

Invictus Class - Only one was built. It was deemed too powerful for organized battles by Maximus_Terragon and therefore was never used. It remains the only ship to ever be barred from any organized ship battle for such reasons. It is currently located in the TAS Sea.

Audax Class - Only one was built. It served as a slightly less-armored substitute for the Invictus Class with comparable firepower and fought in the Eighth Battle of Freeport, winning a decisive victory. It is currently located in the TAS Sea.

Impavida Class - Only one was built. Its design was a quasi-hybrid of the Invictus and Audax Classes, featuring better-armored walls than the Audax Class, but a less durable floor and ceiling. It fought in the First Battle of Battle Bay where it came in second place. In early 2020, about a year after Astrobolt was banned, it was stolen by LEGQ and kept as a museum ship. On September 10, 2022, as a result of rising tensions between the Narwhal Syndicate and CosaNostra, RoMich02 and Legionpvps destroyed it. While this was certainly done with malicious intent, it should be noted that this is exactly what Astrobolt wanted to happen, as it is the policy of the Narwhal Syndicate that all lost or missing assets should either be recovered promptly or destroyed entirely.

Third Generation

Osiris Class - The Osiris Class Phantom Narwhal is an experimental prototype that has not yet been built. It primarily improves on the Invictus Class design, adding even more armor and even more cannons. The end goal for the ongoing design process is to create a ship that is both able to receive massive amounts of damage and give massive amounts of damage in return, making it virtually unsinkable.

Battles

The Battle on the High Seas

On December 27, 2016, JamminMas hosted the server's first major ship battle. The Phantom Narwhal was with the crew Phantom which Astrobolt was a part of at the time. Unfortunately, poor records were kept of the battle, so few details are available. However, the Phantom Narwhal along with the rest of Phantom proved victorious.

The First Battle of Ship Wreck Isle

Hosted in early 2017 by Browe_, (the exact date was not recorded) this was the first battle at the new Ship Wreck Isle, built by Browe_ and NickyB_123. Similarly to the Battle on the High Seas, the Phantom Narwhal and Phantom won.

The Second Battle of Ship Wreck Isle

Also hosted in early 2017 by Browe_, (the exact date was not recorded) this was the second battle to be held at Ship Wreck Isle. The results were just like the previous two battles, with the Phantom Narwhal and Phantom winning.

The First Battle of Freeport

On October 28, 2017, the Phantom Narwhal, commanded by Astrobolt, was dealt critical damage early on in the battle. Soon after, the Phantom Narwhal was disabled. Two other narwhals were also brought into battle, but were both destroyed. After the battle, repairs were made promptly to ensure the Phantom Narwhal stayed healthy.

The Second Battle of Freeport

On November 4, 2017, the Phantom Narwhal, commanded by Astrobolt, proved victorious! Early in the battle it dealt crippling blows to the Teletub. This proved fruitful at the end of the battle, when the Phantom Narwhal defeated the only remaining ship - the Teletub. Towards the end of the battle, Astrobolt gave command of the Phantom Narwhal to TheSmilingFlea to finish off the Teletub. The Phantom Narwhal proved victorious, re-establishing its dominance.

While it did have a clear victory, the Phantom Narwhal was damaged several times throughout the battle, requiring immediate repairs to keep it operating. Afterwards, more thorough repairs were made so that the narwhal would not suffer any permanent damage.

The Fourth Battle of Freeport

On November 26, 2017, the Phantom Narwhal participated in the Fourth Battle of Freeport. After being absent from the Third Battle of Freeport, (since it was ships only - no submarines allowed) Astrobolt was able to stock up on supplies for the battle. At the beginning of the battle, the Narwhal took heavy damage from TNT shots, which were unwisely allowed by Maximus_Terragon. The battle was paused for repairs and TNT shots were not allowed during the rest of the battle. However, an inadequate amount of time was given to repair. Additionally, the supply chest was blown up by the TNT at the beginning of the battle. When the battle resumed, the Phantom Narwhal put up a good fight, but was ultimately defeated. The day after the battle, repairs were made to the Phantom Narwhal and it was quickly made ready for battle once again.

The Eighth Battle of Freeport

On May 26, 2018, exactly six months since the last ship battle that the Phantom Narwhal participated in, Astrobolt returned and ended his boycott on battles organized by Maximus_Terragon. At the end of the battle, four ships, including the Phantom Narwhal, remained. The winner was decided by which ship had the most blocks remaining at the end. The Phantom Narwhal emerged victorious with 93.4% of blocks remaining. This was the last scheduled Battle of Freeport.

The First Battle of Battle Bay

On August 18, 2018, Maximus_Terragon hosted the first battle in the newly made Battle Bay. The Phantom Narwhal ultimately finished in second place. Given the new rules and new narwhal version, the results were more than satisfactory while still leaving room to improve.
