'Shrekism', is the server political movement that believes the server favours builders and passive players too much, and wish to enforce a more pvp-heavy agenda and 'active' playstyle. They normally suggest the addition of stronger weapons, enderpearl cooldowns, increased damage modifiers, removal of siege cooldowns, and a general reduction in moderation of drama and pvp such to enable stronger pvp crews to naturally dominate over 'weaker' non-pvp crews.
It was popularised by players such as JUSAplayer1, TheSmilingFlea (Nationalistic), and MysticTitan, in their respective crews. We (the wiki creators) have named it 'Shrekism' in honour of the old crew ShrekNation and the religion Shrekism in which many of its members have these views.
A more radical view of 'shrekism' has lead to the creation of Anarchism - a developed view that wishes to strongly reduce staff moderation to a bare minimum, and reduce the number of rules limiting players to what they are allowed to do.
Example Policies
These reflect commonly suggested changes players from these crews suggest and aim to show the general aims of this group.
- Addition of an enderpearl cooldown, so people are unable to run as easily during a fight.
- Addition of a damage modifier, such that it is much more easy to take damage and die.
- Addition of claim-conquering, so that it is possible to fight over claimed land and take it over by force.
- Addition of more and stronger event weapons, and pvp-focused events to test each other's skill.
- Improved means of viewing other player's pvp stats, such as KDR, and using it as the basis to rank crews.
- Reduction in number of siege-proof blocks to allow sieges to increase the availability of loot.
- Reduction in pvp and siege moderation, such as removing/changing the 'harassment' rule, enabling the use of /back after pvp death, and possibly allowing the use of glitches to gain entry to claimed bases (more extreme suggestion, see Anarchism.
Followers
Shrekism is the de facto belief of most pvpers, which believe that players and crews who are unable to defend themselves with pvp are deemed 'weak', and will be automatically driven away or forced to learn pvp in order to survive. On the other hand, crews and players which are able to successfully use pvp to conquer and 'defeat' other crews are deemed the strongest.
The views held by believers of 'shrekism' are not limited to pvp crews however, as many aspects (such as the ability to conquer land) has been favoured by players in more traditional crews, such as the British Empire. These are normally reflected in Empirism. Generally speaking, players that want a more 'active' playstyle of conquering and/or pvp will in some way or another share views of 'Shrekism'.
== Criticisms
Shrekism is seen by many players of the opposite spectrum as being the main cause of server drama and friction, and as such there is a reasonably strong divide between players that believe in Shrekism, and other political philosophies such as Cysteenism and Passivism. They argue that pretty much all of the toxicity (such as spamming 'L' in chat, or trashtalking) comes from parties that support Shrekism, and that the server would be a better place when these members are more strongly moderated. It can be seen from the punishment tracker that players who follow Shrekism have well above average number of punishments, and many have already been banned for various reasons. Shrekism members argue that this is proof that the server and its staff are too sympathetic to builders and passive players.
Believers in Conservatism acknowledge that both pvpers (usually believers of Shrekism) and non-pvpers are needed on the server in order to create drama and keep things interesting, and are therefore endorsing of Shrekism as a needed part of the server.
Anarchism is a more extreme version of Shrekism, wishing to further reduce staff moderation and number of rules to a bare minimum. They are supportive of believers of Shrekism.
