Gildor stinky

Overview

Gildor_stinky, or as he prefers to be known Gildor, is a player of piratecraft who joined during Summer 2015.

An aspiring entrepreneur, Gildor runs the often updated Gildor's essentials at /warp trade. Featuring custom potions and a public use instant cobblestone smelter you wont find anywhere else, as well as some of the cheapest items available on the server, the shop is well worth a visit.
After joining several new crews, most notably becoming a leader of both Enigma and Delta, Gildor has more recently settled down into the British Empire where he now resides. More recently, Gildor was elected to the position of Vice Prime Minister of the British Empire after serving 6 months in the position of Home Secretary.

Background

Gildor was first given the name of 'Gildor' by his parents, who named him after the popular automatic doors company, http://gildor.com/. He believed that his parents wished him to become a merchant, and hoped that the prestige of the company would associate with him somewhat, though it was only in his later years that he followed his parent’s wishes.

Unbeknownst to his parents, there was another company that used the name Gildor, https://www.comedy.co.uk/company/gildor_films/. Though his parents wanted the best for him in life, they could not have known the effect this company would have on him and the various ways that his downfall was because of it.

He left the world of education with a PhD in Biological sciences after years of hard work, and prepared to enter the world of science. Keen to finally do something after years of study, he made a career of field research in remote places and happily lived until a few years later, when on an expedition he saw something he should not have seen. The things they kept hidden would shock anyone, but what he saw was impossible to comprehend with a human mind and to this day he does not know what it was, only that there was a thing, and he saw it.

He tried to publish a paper on it, though he always regarded it as a stupid idea.

He was contacted by the Gildor film company after the paper had been in circulation for slightly less than a year, and he agreed to work with them on a film involving a fictional conspiracy. They said the paper he wrote, though as a serious piece of scientific work had little merit, when looked at through the eyes of fiction was excellent. Unbeknownst to him at the time, he should have known that no real company would show interest in a madman and that it was too perfect for the company to have the same name as him.

They used the film to discredit him and all he had ever worked for, he presumed by request of whoever was behind the terrible thing he saw, and as a result he became known as “stinky” throughout the scientific world.

He decided he had to leave the continent; people do not take kindly to those who make mistakes in that part of the world. This was the point he entered the world of piratecraft.

With his career in tatters and his reputation ruined, he turned to all that was left; business. First he tried a publishing company with little success, until advancements in chemical technology led to a new breed of “custom” potions being discovered. Seeing the opportunity, he used his last money and rented a shop where he could sell these potions at a large trading port under control of the British Empire.

The people of this world had not heard of his ‘discovery’ so he was able to finally walk safely in the streets and forget about what had happened, though he kept the name “stinky” in memorium of all he had lost; a career and a reputation.

Additional Notes

Delta Tower

Gildor designed and built the Delta Tower. It is one of the tallest structures, as well as one of the most luxurious. It came 2nd place in the April 2016 BoTM
