Some beginners start by asking around for players that want more crew members. This usually doesn't work so usually successful beginners start off by surviving on their own for a while before possibly joining crews with new pirate friends. ~aniviankevinlu

A lot of the places near Spawn will be claimed and/or Stripped of resources. Find a New place somewhere far away. Use the Live map On the PirateCraft Website for help.

== How do I make my base safe?

PirateCraft uses a [[claim]] system called GriefProtection. You can use a golden shovel to right click the opposite corners of a square area to make it yours. A claimed area is safe from griefing. However, chests CAN be opened in a claimed area! Unless you want your base to be plundered of all its valuables, be sure to put a stone brick block on all of your chests so their lids won't unbolt when you right-click on them. Beware that levers and buttons can be activated if someone kills you while doing a /siege in your claim. Make sure you claim every block in your secure base area so no one sets a /sethome. If this does happen to you, you can report them on the PirateCraft [[forums]] as this is a form of harassment. For more info on claim mechanics, check out the wiki article called [[claims and siege]].

I would advise newcomers to avoid other players until they have gathered sufficient resources to survive, as Piratecraft is a PvP server there will always be someone out to get you unless you're playing with a trusted friend.

If a stranger asks to teleport to you, do not in anyway accept it as they could be there to kill you and siege your property, if you must meet someone early on meet them at spawn where PvP is disabled.

I would also advise you to try and join a crew early on as this is a game where strength in numbers really is everything but try not to beg to join a crew as it will only annoy people.
