AstroTech Research and Development is PirateCraft's premier redstone engineering group. Founded on the principle of finding the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality, the group has refused to make any compromises and has always operated under the belief that any redstone system can be made to fit in areas of any size or shape. AstroTech also has a strong focus on security, being responsible for the design of Mesa Basa, one of the most secure and secretive bases on the server.
In addition to strictly redstone-based projects, AstroTech also shares responsibility with the Narwhal Syndicate for the continued development of the Phantom Narwhal, and has a strong interest in integrating pure redstone with server plugins.
HistoryEdit
AstroTech R&D is a Research and Development organization created by Astrobolt. The organization was originally created to solve redstone spacing issues involved in Astrobolt's bone lounge, a skeleton spawner on ae0's island. While using complicated redstone machines in small spaces is still the main focus, AstroTech R&D has expanded its horizons to powerhouse bases such as Mesa Basa and war machines such as the Phantom Narwhal.
Notable ProjectsEdit
Astrobolt's Bone LoungeEdit
After ae0 commissioned Astrobolt to build a skeleton spawner at ae0's newly founded shop island, Astrobolt needed to start experimenting with various redstone techniques. After using AstroTech R&D to come up with the right technique, there was a problem with spacing. Thus, AstroTech R&D's focus of space, aesthetics, and functionality was created. The spawner ultimately became a cheap way for players to get xp and loot.
Unfortunately, a server update broke the hopper clocks involved. Now the spawner is free to use.
Spooky SpawnerEdit
As more of ae0's island was explored, another skeleton spawner was discovered. Astrobolt was once again commissioned to make it functional. This time, the spawner would be more advanced. There would be several time options to choose from. The times were so precise that even the longest available option, 30 minutes, was accurate to within 10 seconds. (the longest possible option given the redstone setup was estimated to be over 18 hours - for obvious reasons this was never tested) The spawner also included automatically restocking shops that essentially made it an infinite money machine. The spawner was perfected with a skull entrance created by Simbad_Tiger.
Unfortunately, the same server update that broke Astrobolt's bone lounge broke the Spooky Spawner as well. Now, the Spooky Spawner is free to use.
Mesa BasaEdit
Mesa Basa, one of the most formidable bases on the server, is Astrobolt's main base. It is an ongoing project that is improved upon as needed.
Due to it being the base of operations for AstroTech R&D, details about Mesa Basa are unavailable.
LondonEdit
Astrobolt's house in London has been secured with technology produced by AstroTech R&D.
Because it is the fallback base of operations for AstroTech R&D, specific details about the house are unavailable.
The Phantom NarwhalEdit
While Astrobolt was in the crew Phantom, he created the Phantom Narwhal for ship battles. Since then, it has been improved upon with several new designs. Each new design features more advanced capability, weaponry, and armor.
All work on the Phantom Narwhal is top secret, therefore further details on this project are unavailable.
Narwhal HQEdit
The Narwhal HQ was a large base built by Astrobolt for housing narwhals. Construction began when Astrobolt realized that he needed a single location to store all of the narwhals. It was completely under the sea floor and featured a large hangar with a retractable roof along with a dry dock. The Original Phantom Narwhal was also stored here in its own secure chamber. In classic AstroTech R&D fashion, it also featured a state-of-the-art security system.
Approximately five months after construction began, Astrobolt removed all AstroTech related materials, including the narwhals, so that he could sell the base in order to raise funds and get materials for a new base. After the former Narwhal HQ was sold, construction began on a new base, which is yet to be named.
