A. You can build dhows from deckhand rank.

Q. What rank do I have to be to build cannons?
A. You can build and fire rusty cannons from cadet rank, and carronade cannons, iron cannons and mortars from gunner rank.

Q. How can I claim my house?
A. A Golden Spade is used to create and resize claims to protect your home. You can either go mining to make your own or buy one from another player. However, your chests aren’t safe from raiders, so place a stone brick block over it!

Q. How do I sail a ship?
A. To pilot your ship, or steal another, right click the ships control sign, and you will be greeted with a message saying you have successfully piloted the ship. To move, you can either use the Cruise sign, or right click in the direction you want to move with your Golden Hoe, Your ship will start to move in that direction unless you are being obstructed by land, ships, or docks. To rotate your ship, you will need a sign on your ship with the line [helm] on board, This will turn into a wheel once activated by right clicking. To rotate right click the sign with a empty hand to rotate clockwise and left click with an empty hand to rotate counterclockwise, this will cause your whole ship to rotate. To release your ship you have to use the command /release in chat, or create a [release] sign on the ship, Or you could just leave your ship and wait for the 30 second timer to end. Alternatively, if you fall off and can't get back in, simply type /manoverboard to be placed back on your ship.

Q. How do I play PirateCraft?
A. This is a pirate themed Minecraft server, not a minigame. You play like you would on a normal server, with the addition of several plugins. Most notably, the ships and cannons plugins.

Q. I have a problem that requires help from staff members!
A. Please make a support ticket, http://piratemc.com/forums/server-support/support-tickets/. Please appreciate that staff have lives and are very busy, so they may not get back to you straight away. One support ticket is plenty enough!

Q. How do I leave spawn and find a home?
A. You can leave spawn by doing the /warp command. Through most warps you will be able to walk a ways and find a home. The warps North, South, East, and West are the best for this if you are willing to pay the $15 fee required. You can also do /map and follow the link that appears to find a spot that suits your needs. There is no /wild. Alternatively, you can use the Live Map to find somewhere to settle.

Q. I am a deckhand and I want to join a crew!
A. This server has a ranks system, and as the starter rank it is usually quite difficult for a deckhand to find a crew. It is recommended that you at least reach the sailor rank and show that you intend to stay with this server instead of expecting to start playing with a crew immediately.

Q. How do I get money?
A. A new player starts off with £25 in server cash, however this quickly dwindles. For a new player to make money who does not have much in the way of resources, the options are to vote, which has a chance of giving cash sums as prizes as well as other resources or the player can gather resources that can be sold in sell shops. One example is the sell sign at /warp cove that enables a player to sell a stack of logs for £6. /info eco provides a brief guide on certain methods of making money.

Q. Oh no! Somebody killed me and stole everything I own.
A. It happens to everyone. This is a pvp server so this is all allowed. If you want to be able to build a safe base then you need to understand how claims work.

Overview
The Xenon Tower is one of the tallest structures in the Piratecraft world at 256 metres. Acting as both a landmark as well as a fortress, the Xenon Tower stands on the old XE - VE border, constructed by Maximus_Terragon in preparation for the Second Verussian War.

It is classified as a Super Weapon, however it is currently inert.

Location
The Xenon Tower was built in a lake owned by the Xenon Empire. It stands on the border between the Xenon, and Verussian Empire.

It can be seen from the Port of Xenia, and acts as a sort of landmark/lighthouse for nearby ships entering the port. It's located around x: 2200 y: 65 z: 2400.

History
The Xenon Tower was planned and built by Maximus_Terragon in January 2016, and finished in April 2016.

In January 2016, the Entarian Alliance announced plans to construct a Super Weapon capable of firing an array of cannons, at the flick of a button. These cannons could fire clusterbombs over 600 meters away. Entarian Orbital Bombardment System

Shocked by the news, some of the members of the League of Nations started planning and constructing their own Super Weapons. The Xenon Empire's response was the Xenon Tower. Unlike the Entarian Alliance's Super weapon, the Xenon Tower worked in practice, and was constructed.

It saw active use in the Second Verussian War, as an artillery platform. It managed to hit the Verussian capital, Pallivadia 300 meters away. The bombardment was successful, and served as a deterrent, doing no damage to Pallivadia itself as it was claimed.

Today it still stands, mighty and strong. The cannons and mortars were removed from the tower, in conjunction with the peace agreement that followed the wars.

When jumping from the top down, you have a 7 second free fall, and reach terminal velocity. The tower's design is symmetrical, and was considered revolutionary at the time.

Details
Features

* At 256 meters high in total, and 212 meters above the sea bed, it is the tallest single structure measured from its foundations on the seabed, and one of the tallest buildings overall.
* Has space for 64 cannons and mortars
* Contains a beacon, and acts as a lighthouse
* 10 Floors, including a vault
* Siege proof walls, as well as a wall design that does not allow the use of enderpearls to climb up it

Inhabitants
* Maximus_Terragon (designer and sole builder)

Future Plans
There are plans to add a more grand interior to the Tower, however these plans may not materialize until a year from now.
How To Build
Once you have the right rank, you can build different types of cannons, If you place a blank sign on the side of the barrel, it will give cannon information and its owner.

Rusty Carronade Cannon

Made by placing 3 Grey Wool lengthwise and is unlocked at Cadet Rank, is ideally used to fire into/from ships or Fortifications! You can adjust how far your cannon fires using more/less gunpowder.

Carronade Cannon

A. You can build dhows from deckhand rank.

Q. What rank do I have to be to build cannons?
Q. How can I claim my house?
A. A Golden Spade is used to create and resize claims to protect your home. You can either go mining make your own or buy one from another player. However, your chests aren’t safe from raiders, so place a stone brick block over it!
Q. How do I sail a ship?
A. To pilot your ship, or steal another, right click the ships control sign with your Golden Hoe, you will be greeted with a message saying you have successfully piloted the ship. To move, right click in the direction you want to move with your Golden Hoe, Your ship will start to move in that direction unless you are being obstructed by land or docks. To rotate your ship, you will need a sign on your ship with the line [helm] on board, This will turn into a wheel once activated by right clicking with a golden hoe, To rotate right click the sign with a empty hand to rotate clockwise and left click with an empty hand to rotate anti-clockwise, this will cause your whole ship to rotate.

Q. What rank do I have to be to build ships?
A. You can build dhows from deckhand rank.

Q. What rank do I have to be to build cannons?
A. You can build and fire rusty cannons from cadet rank, and carronade cannons, [[cannons|iron cannons] and mortars from gunner rank.

Getting Started
You will need only the default rank for some ships, but others like the Schooner require Higher ranks like Sailor or higher, but you can bypass ranking up and donate for access to all ranks, access to all ships, and a lot of in-game money!

For a Dhow (The most basic type of ship) you will need:

A small wooden hull with a mast (Stairs & Slabs count),

Sails on the mast,

At least 3 signs,

(Optional) Golden Hoe To pilot and move.

Check Ship Types further down for specific ship information

How To Build
Your ship has to be meet the specific requirements listed in the Ship Types section below, It has to be built on or partially in water and not touching any docks or land.

Once you have built your ship place a sign somewhere central with the ship name on a singular line, for example: Dhow.

Create a second sign with the singular line [helm] to be able to rotate your ship. Right click it to make it a wheel.

Create a third sign with nothing but Cruise: OFF (Case sensitive)

Optional: Create a fourth sign with the singular line Release to be able to release your ship.

The first sign will create the ship, when you right click it there will be a conformation that says either:
Successfully piloted ship! Size: <blocks used>
Couldn’t pilot ship! Lock block attached (check for any pistons on board; those are lock blocks),
Couldn’t pilot ship! (Either it is too small or too big; you may need a different ship name),
That be not enough: Wood/Wool (You will need to add more of the material or subtract from a different material).

If it does work, you’re on the right track!

Now make sure there’s nothing else around to block your ship!

To turn your ship, right/left click the wheel to turn right/left, respectively.

To move, you can either use the optional gold hoe and right click in the direction you want to go (I mean ANY direction; even backwards!), or you can use the Cruise: OFF sign. If you right click the sign, the sign will change to Cruise: ON, and you will move forward four blocks every few seconds. To turn, use the wheel.

Your ship should be made of wood or wood-based blocks, and wool for sails. Exceptions are furnaces, iron (best used in cannons or as gear), glass, and, for some ships, stone bricks. You can’t use “soft blocks” like dirt or sand, and cobblestone is a no-no.

Remember when building/adding something onto a ship to right click its control (name) sign again to update the ship, or you will sail off while your attachments float away!

Chest Storage & Trade Ships
Chests will only work on ships as single chests, not doubles, but a double chest can help as a type of ship lock.

Storage Crates are another method to store items on a ship.

To craft a Storage Crate, place a chest in the center of a crafting bench and surround it with wood.

This will create a new item called a Storage Crate, placing creates a new block which works exactly like a chest that works on ships, Custom Texture packs like Dokucraft already have textures for storage crates, default texture
packs will see a piston.

Trade signs also work on ships, so you can have a trade ship to earn in-game money, sailing from coast to coast. Everyone can create Trade signs, to learn how; check out the Essentials Trade sign tutorial.

Ship Types
To create a ship, use the ship name in a sign placed on your ship, each has its own requirements.

Dhow
A lateen-rigged ship with one or two masts, used chiefly in the Arabian region.

The Dhow is a small ship, a starting ship to test the waters, available to all ranks! It may be small, but its snappy! Block are limited to “light” or wood based blocks, you can’t use stone or dirt on Dhows.
