Chailey is one of the longer-term players on PirateCraft. In March 2015, he ran for the role of Prime Minister of the [[British Empire]] with [[Bislo1]] as his vice Prime Minister. The results were close, but clear. Chailey's political opponents, [[CrazyPirate]] and [[Michal_Tyrlik]] beat them to the role. Chailey was shortly thereafter granted the position of ''Minister for War'', with [[DirectorAnivian]] acting as his admiral. A few weeks after his Governmental position was awarded to him, Chailey temporarily left the Empire in order to focus more on his exams. Chailey was reinstated into the Empire by the vice Prime Minister at the time, [[Michal_Tyrlik]], on the 19th of April, 2015. As a member of the British Empire, Chailey is also the Governor of the [[Virgin Islands]]. Chailey is also considered as one of the founders of the Empire, as well as [[CrazyPirate]], [[TimHuisman]], [[PaulOnFire]] and [[Michal_Tyrlik]].

The dissolution of the [[Queendom of Evermoor]] at the end of 2014 resulted in both a power vaccuum as well as many homeless players. Thus the time was ripe for new great [[alliances]] to emerge. Of all the upstarts, the British Empire was the most successful. Founded in February 2015 by CrazyPirate, its growth skyrocketed and within a couple of weeks the British Empire already counted 20 citizens.

Most of the newly acquired territories were focused around the [[North Sea]], which quickly became the safest area for British citizens to reside. Expansion into other quadrants provided mixed results. Heavy [[pirate]] activity in the East led to many new British colonies being raided, which in turn resulted in frequent skirmishes between buccaneers and British redcoats. In particular a British retaliation raid on pirate-controlled [[Havanna]] led to much bloodshed, the battle was however ultimately lost and the British forces opted to abandon their struggling colonies and instead claim new territories on the far western side of the [[PirateCraft_1|world]].

== Turmoil ==

After a brief period of respite, petty conflicts expanded to previously peaceful colonies. For and foremost pirates [[Bensterpc]] and [[Pipsterpc]] utilised the opportunity to plague weak members of the Empire. At the same time, elections were taking place to determine the first government of the British Empire. The first round of voting was mired by rogue voters who weren't part of the British Empire as well as multiple ballots being cast per elector, so the position of Election Commissioner was bestowed upon [[PaulOnFire]] to manage the elections in a fair and transparent manner. The results were close but clear: [[CrazyPirate]] and [[Michal_Tyrlik]] beat [[Chailey]] and [[Bislo1]] to the posts of Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister.

The first actions of the new Prime Minister was to try and appease the boiling tensions between the raiding pirates, the returned former Queen of [[Evermoor]], [[Reptaria]], and the head of the [[TUPE]] alliance, [[Unic0rnjunk101]]. Peace deals were consistently breached, which led to bold British action against Bensterpc and Pipsterpc: Their southern fortress near to British controlled [[Port Royal]] was assaulted and damaged, their fleet set ablaze. Attacks were expanded to Havanna, which was damaged in multiple raids. The newly revived elves of Evermoor who had formerly announced their friendship to the British Empire now declared war, which resulted in the streets of Evermoor being blown up by [[cannons]].

Shortly thereafter peace was agreed upon by all sides. The elves of Evermoor rebranded themselves as the [[Elven Empire]] of [[Lothlorien]]. The British forts surrounding Havanna remained claimed as a monument to the war and attacks on [[Port Hope]] by Unic0rnjunk101 ceased.

Currently the British Empire is allied with the Elven Empire and continues to expand, now encompassing 62 members. Existing territories are being improved and expanded and the construction of the capital city of [[London]] has begun.

Heavy [[pirate]] activity in the East led to many new British colonies being raided, which in turn resulted in frequent skirmishes between buccaneers and British redcoats. In particular a British retaliation raid on pirate-controlled [[Havanna]] led to much bloodshed, the battle was however ultimately lost and the British forces opted to abandon their struggling colonies and instead claim new territories on the far western side of the [[PirateCraft_1|world]].

== Turmoil ==

After a brief period of respite, petty conflicts expanded to previously peaceful colonies. For and foremost pirates [[Bensterpc]] and [[Pipsterpc]] utilised the opportunity to plague weak members of the Empire. At the same time, elections were taking place to determine the first government of the British Empire. The first round of voting was mired by rogue voters who weren't part of the British Empire as well as multiple ballots being cast per elector, so the position of Chief Election Commissioner was bestowed upon [[PaulOnFire]] to manage the elections in a fair and transparent manner. The results were close but clear: [[CrazyPirate]] and [[Michal_Tyrlik]] beat [[Chailey]] and [[Bislo]] to the posts of Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister.

The first actions of the new Prime Minister was to try and appease the boiling tensions between the raiding pirates, the returned former Queen of [[Evermoor]], [[Reptaria]], and the head of the [[TUPE]] alliance, [[Unic0rnjunk101]]. Peace deals were consistently breached, which led to bold British action against Bensterpc and Pipsterpc: Their southern fortress near to British controlled [[Port Royal]] was assaulted and damaged, their fleet set ablaze. Attacks were expanded to Havanna, which was damaged in multiple raids. The newly revived elves of Evermoor who had formerly announced their friendship to the British Empire now declared war, which resulted in the streets of Evermoor being blown up with [[cannons]].

Shortly thereafter a peace was agreed upon by all sides. The elves of Evermoor rebranded themselves as the [[Elven Empire]] of [[Lothlorien]]. The British forts surrounding Havanna remained claimed as a monument to the war and attacks on [[Port Hope]] by Unic0rnjunk101 ceased.

Currently the British Empire is allied with the Elven Empire and continues to expand, now encompassing 62 members. Existing territories are being improved and expanded and the construction of the capital city of [[London]] has begun.

Originally created and governed by [[CrazyPirate]] in May 2014, the Virgin Islands was one of the first [[settlements]] to join the notorious [[British Empire]]. After [[Chailey]] informed CrazyPirate that he wanted to join the Empire in February 2015, it wasn't long before the control of the Virgin Islands was handed over. Despite being one of the older settlements of the Empire, the Islands did not have any land to call their own. It is for this reason that Chailey's first job was to find an area suitable enough to [[claim]] for the British Empire and get to work. After a few days, he decided to settle on a large island surrounded by other, smaller, islands in the north of the world. From here, the Islands' land grew continuously until its current size of 38,875 blocks. The Governor's reside of the Virgin Islands was finished by Chailey on the 22nd of February, 2015. This should provide the server with a new, competitive, trading hub, as well as provide a source of income for the Empire.

It is placed on the plains island of Nanjana and is a village for farmers and fishermen. 

It was founded in the early spring of 2015 and is therefore still pretty young.
Even though it is close to [[the Cove]] there aren't many settlers in Carmory or on Nanjana. 
It's also worth mentioning that Carmory has always been a neutral village, having some connections to the [[British Empire]] and to the [[Elven Empire|Elven]] but never joining one bigger faction.

Settlements are areas of habitation created by players. The can take many forms, among others ports, villages, towns, cities, ghettos, etc. A settlement is different from a base in that it is a center of commerce, culture and expansion. Typically, a settlement will encompass a number of buildings and a system of streets. The average settlement needn't necessarily house more than one player.

== Town Status==

The title of "town" is reserved for settlements with a certain level of prestige. To be upgraded to official town status, it is necessary to the meet the following requirements:

* The applicant settlement must be listed on the official [http://piratemc.com/groups/settlements/forum/topic/application-for-town-status/ settlements thread] on the PirateCraft forums.
* It must possess one Town Hall.
* There must be walkways/roads/paths connecting all builds.
* There must be one beacon present.
* A town must have shops selling at least 50 stocked wares OR it must have an arena.
* Building architecture should follow similar themes and each building should feature characteristics of that building, i.e a church wouldn’t just be a square box with a sign on the front saying “Church”.
* Buildings cannot be hollow shells. Houses need to have furnished rooms.
* Five more buildings of different types are required. Some ideas:

** Farm(s)
** Central square
** Arena
** Stables
** Tavern
** Prison
** Church/Temple
